US Declares War on Tik Tok | National Security vs Competition
Tik Tok is set to be banned in The United States on January 19th, 2025, UNLESS there is a Non-Chinese Buyer. Kevin O’Leary is part of a group that has placed a bid for purchase of the company. Rumors were circulating around Elon Musk potentially being offered the ability to purchase the company, but Tik Tok rejects this report.
ByteDance is The Parent Company of Tik Tok, which has direct ties to The Chinese Government. The Chinese Government is currently operated by The Chinese Communist Party. The Rule is Authoritarian, where The Chinese Government not only has equity stake in Chinese companies, but also adjusts their goals depending on the goals of The Chinese Communist Party. This is what poses a National Security Threat to The United States.
However, this is a facade. The National Security issue can easily be ameliorated by adjusting management of The US Satellite Office and ensuring no data is transmitted back to Mainland China. No Bill is required to do this; Executive Action is enough. The United States already participates in this fashion when it comes to other companies, so this is not a complicated solution for one company.
